Cat Allergy Symptoms - What Can You Do About Them?Cat allergy symptoms are the most evident when you pat your cat. If you go over to pat your cat, or they jump into your lap and you sneeze every time¡ you're probably either allergic to cat dander or cat fur. Cat allergy treatment consists of removing the cat from the house; to think that you can have allergic reactions to your cat, and you're going to live with that¡ don't do it. What causes allergies? Well, it all depends upon the kind of allergy you're talking about. Sometimes we call things 'allergies' when they really aren't technically an allergy. Or, the thing we're allergic to isn't the thing we're calling the problem. If you eat peanuts, and you have symptoms every time you eat them, the problem might be the fungi which typically live on the peanuts. After all, peanuts are grown under the ground, so they're bound to have tons of fungus on them. The kind of fungus which affects peanuts is called Aspergillus flavus, which creates mycotoxins called aflatoxins. Aflatoxins attack your nervous system. Thus, when we say we have 'food allergies symptoms', we might actually be allergic to Aspergillus (a common problem, because it's one of the worst as far as having toxins which can affect the nervous system). Dust mite allergies, of course, are caused by those monster-shaped mites, which hide in your bed, or the dust in your vacuum cleaner, or the dust bunnies under your couch. However, if you experience cat allergy symptoms, and you're not interested in getting rid of your cat because you've grown to love them like a child, then you're going to have to get rid of the dandruff problem¡ or keep the cat from shedding hair all-over. You must have other people do these things, though. Have your kids wash the cat in Head and Shoulders shampoo. The fungus (malassezia ) that causes dandruff is killed by the zinc pyrithione that's in the shampoo. What triggers dandruff is unknown; but once it begins, you're probably not going to completely eliminate it. It's something that you'll be fighting the rest of that cat's life. Some of the things they think might cause dandruff are hormone fluctuations, neurological disorders, Parkinson's disease, a suppressed immune system, illness, stress, increased oil production or many more reasons. The initiating reason why it grew to be a big problem might stem from the taking of antibiotics. As you kill off bacteria everywhere in your body you cause yeasts and fungi to proliferate. One of the ones which will find opportunity is the dandruff fungus. Thus, cat allergy symptoms aren't just going to go away by themselves. If you have your kids wash your cat in a dandruff shampoo and you notice improvement, then it's the dandruff. If, on the other hand, you vacuum, you wash the cat, you replace rugs and the problem still occurs, then it's probably an allergy to cat hair instead. In that case, go to the doctor and ask for scratch tests to be performed on you. Allergies can be pinned down by the doctor introducing each potential allergen to your body by scratching your skin and rubbing in the offending culprit. If there is a reaction on your skin, that is positive proof that your body is fighting it as if it were an organism. Cat allergy symptoms can be minimized, if not completely eliminated from your home. |
